UPDATE: Opelika teen sought in murder case - NOW ARRESTED!

Opelika Police: ARREST OF MURDER SUSPECT
On October 20, 2011 at approximately 9:09AM CST, Jadarius  Lamar Dowdell, 17 years of age of Opelika turned himself in to Investigators at the Opelika Police Department.  Dowdell has been charged with Murder in connection to the shooting death of Jamal Marcel Butler on October 18, 2011.  Dowdell will be transferred to the Lee County Detention Center to be held in lieu of Bond.

Opelika police are looking for a 17-year-old wanted for the murder of an Opelika man on Tuesday.

A murder warrant was issued Wednesday for Jadarius Lamar Dowdell, 17, of Opelika, in connection with the shooting death of Jamal M. Butler.
Opelika police responded to the Antioch Homes apartment complex in the 500 block of W.E. Morton Avenue at approximately 3:30 p.m. CST Tuesday, where Butler was discovered behind the apartment complex having sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso, according to an Opelika Police Department release.
Butler was transported to the East Alabama Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
A firearm was recovered at the scene, OPD Capt. Allan Elkins said.
Dowdell is described as a black male standing 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 130 pound. Dowdell is possibly traveling to the Birmingham area, Elkins said.
Dowdell is to be considered armed and dangerous.
