The Russell County Sheriff's Department is warning residents in the area to keep an eye out for a scam involving a winning $1 million lottery ticket.
According to Sheriff Heath Taylor, someone is phoning senior citizens and telling them they've won the $1 million prize. The scammers then say "winners" can claim the prize by sending a $100 check.
Do not send money. It is a scam.
