The Dothan Police Department has recently responded to four counts of theft that have resulted from a scam that is currently ongoing in the Wiregrass area. Bethel Baptist Church on Cottonwood Road contacted authorities last week and filed a complaint that a man named Keith Michael Williams has been going around the City posing as one of their church members selling Boston Butts and Ribs on behalf of their church. Staff members of Bethel Baptist Church stated Williams is not a member of their church and they are not having a Boston Butt sale at this time. Several area businesses have contacted the church and advised they paid for an order from Williams and were suppose to be receiving their delivery on Friday 10-07-2011 which they did not. The suspect told the businesses victimized that he did not have a ticket at the time they paid him but told them he would bring their ticket back to them, which he never did. One of the businesses victimized in this scheme had an employee who recognized Williams and identified him to the church staff and police. Investigators have now signed four warrants for the arrest of Williams for theft charges. Police believe there may be additional counts of theft in this scam and ask that any additional victims, or anyone with information to call the Dothan Police Department or CrimeStoppers 334-793-7000.
