Alabaster woman charged with fraudulent fundraising

Alabaster, Al.
A 41-year-old Alabaster woman is in Shelby County Jail this morning after being arrested and charged with theft by deception in connection with a fundraising project for a special-needs playground.
Roseanna Borelli
Roseanna Paulin Borelli was charged with two counts of second-degree theft by deception and one count of third-degree. She is being held on a $50,000 bond, according to Alabaster Deputy Police Chief Curtis Rigney.
According to Rigney, Borelli sought donations to build a playground at Linda Nolen Learning Center, a public school for special-needs children in Pelham. He said Borelli raised about $6,400 that never made it to the school.
"She solicited donations from individuals as well as companies" Rigney said. "Our investigation shows that none of the money ever made it to the school." Rigney stated. "However, the money did go toward items such as online dating services, hotels, clothing and restaurants."
Rigney said Borelli also has been involved in other fundraising activities, and the police are investigating those as well.
"More charges may be pending. The investigation is still ongoing" he said. "We are looking into other fundraising activities she has been involved with. Anyone who may have donated money to her, or has information concerning this investigation, we would like to talk to you."
