Marshall County deputy shoots man who pointed shotgun

GRANT, Alabama
A Marshall County Sheriff's deputy shot a man Monday afternoon but his injuries are not life-threatening, authorities said.
Sheriff Scott Walls said deputies and Grant police responded to 3292 Swearengin Road in Grant just before 5 p.m. where a man reportedly had a gun. Moments after a deputy arrived, he found the man on the back porch of the residence with a shotgun.
According to Walls, the deputy gave the man numerous commands to drop the gun, but the man instead came toward the deputy while raising and then pointing the firearm at the unnamed deputy, who responded by firing on the man.
Walls said the man was taken to an area hospital for treatment. He said the investigation has been turned over to the Alabama Bureau of Investigation.
