Beaten man found in Monsoons lot; woman charged with intimidating witness

MOBILE, Alabama
Cynthia Murphy
A 57-year-old Mobile woman faces charges accusing her of intimidating a witness after she reportedly went to another woman's house Saturday night and attacked her, police said in a news release.
This one of several incidents police handled over the weekend, officials said.
On Saturday about 8:10 p.m. officers responded to the 900 block of Cottrell Street for what they thought was a domestic violence call. The victim told police that a woman identified as Cynthia Murphy came to her residence and threatened her about being a witness to a commercial robbery that occurred in July, police said. Murphy then assaulted the victim while threatening her, officials said.
Police arrested Murphy, also finding that she had drug paraphernalia in her possession.
Murphy was booked into Mobile County Metro Jail about 10:48 p.m. Saturday and released about an hour later, with a total bail set at $3,500, according to jail records. She is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 3, records show.
Early Sunday morning, about 2:40 a.m., officers were called to the Mobile Infirmary Medical Center emergency room to investigate an assault that occurred in the parking lot of Monsoons at 9 N. Jackson St. downtown, police said. The male victim is listed in critical condition at the University of South Alabama Medical Center, but is improving as of this morning, officials said.
Anyone with information about what may have happened in this incident is asked to call the Mobile Police Department at 251-208-7211, Crime Stoppers at 251-208-7000, or to send a text to 274637 and include the keywords CRIME 411.
On Sunday at about 12:10 p.m., a 55-year-old male victim was making repairs to a rental house in the 5800 block of Gallen Avenue when a man armed with a handgun walked in and demanded his wallet, police said. The victim gave the gunman his wallet. The gunman left in the victim’s 2004 black Ford F-150.
The robber is described as a black male with a dark complexion, about 16-18 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 165 to 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white tank top and brown pants.
In a separate incident that occurred about 10:55 p.m. Sunday, 2 men entered the Circle K in the 5600 block of Moffett Road, one armed with a shotgun, the other with a handgun. The gunmen demanded that the store clerk open the register and after taking money, they left on foot, police said.
The first robber is described as a black male, between 26 and 29 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing about 165-170 pounds. He was last seen wearing all-black clothing with a black ski mask with the eyes and mouth cut out.
The second robber is described as a black male, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing about 155 to 165 pounds. He had a black mask over his face, police said.
