2 arrested on drug charges in Tuscaloosa

Tuscaloosa deputies arrested two people on Sunday evening in the 6200 block of University Boulevard East on a report of drug activity.

Police said two suspects -- Billy Townsend, 46, and Melissa Johnson, 35 -- were in possession of crack cocaine. Both subjects were detained and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Townsend and Johnson were both sent to Tuscaloosa County Jail with bonds totaling $7,500 each.
