Dog survives attack, loses leg, looks for permanent home

ELMORE COUNTY, Al.
An American pit bull from Elmore County is looking for a new home after recovering from an attack that forced veterinarians to amputate one of her legs.
The dog, dubbed Reba "The Survivor," was found under a car with injuries to her leg that Humane Society of Elmore County workers say they believe she survived because she was used as a bait dog for fighting.
The dog's flesh was hanging from the leg, but a local veterinarian called in to help had to remove the mangled limb.
Reba spent two weeks recovering at an Elmore County veterinarian clinic, but is now back at the humane society and is looking or a permanent home.
She is learning to get around on three legs and needs to gain weight. Humane society workers say Reba is 5 years old and has been spayed.
Anyone interested in adopting Reba should call the Humane Society of Elmore County at 334-567-3377.
