An early morning raid at a residence in the 600 block of Westview Drive netted a pair of arrests and more than two pounds of marijuana, 20 grams of powdered cocaine and LSD and Ecstasy pills, Auburn Police Division Chief Tommy Dawson said Monday.

Carnell J. Jackson, 27, and Lynne C. Torbert, 23, both of Auburn, were charged with drug trafficking and three counts of possession of a controlled substance after Auburn police, Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies and members of the county-wide tactical SWAT team executed a search warrant about 6 a.m. Monday.
“We have been investigating them for some time and have gotten tips from concerned citizens about drugs being sold at the location and finally had enough evidence to obtain a search warrant,” Dawson said.
The quantity and packaging of the drugs indicate they were intended for distribution, Dawson said. A 9mm handgun was also confiscated by tactical team members, whose entry inside the home was slowed by a barricaded door.

A 4-year-old child shared in common by Jackson and Torbert was at the home at the time the search warrant was executed and was turned over to relatives, Dawson said.
Jackson and Torbert are being held at the Lee County Detention Facility on $39,000 bond each, Dawson said.
“We’re happy be able to take this amount of drugs off the streets of Auburn, but it’s a never-ending battle that we keep doing day by day,” he said.
