Dollar General shoplifting suspect threatens Mobile store employees with gun

MOBILE, Al.
Mobile police say that a shoplifting suspect was confronted Sunday at the Dollar General store at 3450 Hillcrest Road, but warded off store employees by telling them she was armed with a handgun.

Claretha Henderson, 59, entered the Dollar General at about 1:15 p.m. and started concealing items in her purse, Mobile police said in a news release. After threatening the employees, she then fled the scene in a vehicle, police said.
At about 1:58 p.m., Henderson was stopped while driving on Hillcrest Road, according police. Henderson was detained and the property was recovered from the vehicle.

Henderson was transported to the Mobile County Metro Jail and charged with first-degree robbery. Listing her address as homeless, Henderson was also booked on a number of outstanding warrants, including everything from theft of property to driving with a suspended license to a handicapped parking violation.
