Montgomery woman dies in wreck in Indiana, son survives

TIPPECANOE CO., Ind.
A trooper with the Indiana State Police has confirmed 32-year-old, Shaundranikia King, of Montgomery, Alabama was killed after a fatal accident on I-65 southbound Sunday morning.
The accident occurred at mile marker 183 around 8:15 Sunday morning. State police said a witness was passed in the right lane by a 1996 Chevy Blazer. The witness did say the driver didn't pass at an excessive speed.
According to this same witness, the Blazer was driving south in the right lane when for an unknown reasons she went off the road, to the right, and hit the rumble strips on the outer shoulder. The driver then came back onto the interstate across both lanes, over-corrected and came back across both lanes again.
The driver then hit the rumble strips on the outer shoulder, lost control, and slid sideways into the ditch on the west side of the interstate.
The responding officer, Trooper Michael Krueger, said the woman, 32 year-old, Shaundranikia King, of Montgomery, Alabama was not wearing her seat belt and was thrown from the car.
King's six-year-old son was also in the car. He was wearing a seatbelt, and sustained some injuries. He too was thrown from the car, and was found in the ditch as well. He was taken to Franciscan St. Elizabeth East Hospital, and was airlifted from there to Riley at IU Health in Indianapolis. He is expected to recover.
Shaundranikia King was pronounced dead on the scene.
