An 82-year-old Prichard woman remained in critical condition today at a local hospital after Prichard police said she was run over and pinned by a stolen sport utility vehicle in front of her home Saturday.

Police did not identify the woman.
Gardner said officers were called to Bella Street about 8 a.m. Saturday after a resident there reported a white Lexus SUV had been stolen.
Not quite four hours later, officers got a call that the SUV had run off Hinson Avenue and struck the woman, pinning her beneath the vehicle, Gardner said.
Gardner was one of the first officers to reach the scene, which he described as “a horrific situation.”
He added, “This is not something that you want to see.”
While police and fire rescuers worked to free the woman from beneath the SUV, the 3 persons in the car ran away, Gardner said. The driver of the stolen SUV, whom Gardner identified as Roderick Henriques Williams, got into another car, which police stopped shortly afterward.
Williams, who was himself injured when the SUV ran off the street, was treated for his injuries and taken to Mobile County Metro Jail to face adult charges of first-degree receiving stolen property and first-degree assault, Gardner said.
Bail for Williams was set at $15,000, and the youth was released 2 hours after booking when a bonding company posted bail for him, according to jail records.
The records also indicate Williams was arrested on an adult charge once before, at age 16 for first-degree robbery. Gardner said Williams has a juvenile record as well.
The woman was struck as she was cleaning her yard on a sharp curve on the residential street near Tommie Agee Loop just east of Interstate 65.
Williams will appear Monday morning in Mobile County District Court.
Online court records indicate Williams was set for an Oct. 31 trial on the robbery charge, which is related to an incident that took place Sept. 18, 2010. He was arrested two days later.
A motion to have Williams declared a youthful offender in relation to the robbery charge is also pending, the court records show.
