Ala. ferry docks receive grants for improvements

FORT MORGAN, Ala. (AP)
Two ferry docks in Alabama are receiving federal funding for improvements.
The Mobile Press-Register reports (http://bit.ly/nspQjm ) that the dock near Fort Morgan will receive $158,000. Alabama Department of Transportation spokesman Terry Harris says the money will be used to improve fencing and lighting around the facility.
That ferry runs from Fort Morgan to Dauphin Island.
The Gees Bend Ferry dock in Camden is slated to receive $583,000 for improvements. It resumed operations in 2006 after being closed for decades.
