A Coffee County school bus carrying approximately 35 students was hit in the front side by a pickup truck Monday afternoon on County Road 513.
Reports from Coffee County Schools Superintendent Don McPherson said the bus was from the New Brockton schools and had mostly elementary school students on the vehicle when it was hit, but “the bus driver did an excellent job in swerving to try to avoid the truck. We got the students off the bus and transported them to another bus and none were injured.”
The driver of the pickup and another passenger were transported to Medical Center Enterprise with minor injuries.
The accident occurred around 3:20 p.m. Alabama State Troopers are investigating the accident. The New Brockton Police Department assisted at the scene.
