Lucky Duck gambling hall not so lucky in raid

MIDFIELD, Ala. (AP)
The Lucky Duck gambling hall in Jefferson County has turned out to be not so lucky.
A spokesman for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Randy Christian, says deputies joined the district attorney's office and state attorney general's office Tuesday in the crackdown on the Lucky Duck in Midfield. He said they seized 250 machines and will seek court approval to destroy them.
The Midfield City council voted Aug. 8 to allow the Lucky Duck to open after the sheriff's department shut down two other electronic bingo halls on Aug. 5. The Lucky Duck closed temporarily Aug. 21 after being warned that it was subject to being raided, but Christian said it recently reopened despite the warning.
