Officials say the threat of wildfires is growing across Alabama as unusually dry weather continues across much of the state.
Little rain is in the forecast, and the Alabama Forestry Commission says more than 100 fires have burned almost 1,800 acres statewide over the last week.
Most of the state is in a drought except the Tennessee Valley region and west-central Alabama. Officials say conditions are worst in southeast Alabama, where counties along the Georgia line are in an extreme drought.
State Forester Linda Casey says the agency hasn't issued any burning restrictions, but the dry conditions and low humidity are increasing the threat of wildfires.
