MONTGOMERY, Alabama
Police arrested four men on Tuesday on charges related to a Saturday night shooting in a city park that wounded eight people.

Arrested on conspiracy to commit murder charges were Marvin Nikia Gaston, 21; Sandriquez Kadarious Hall, 19; Thedeuss Darnell Jones, 23; and Otis Rashad Jones, 21.
Hall and Gaston are being held in lieu of $500,000 bond; Otis and Thedeuss Jones were each held on $250,000 bond.

The four face conspiracy to murder charges in the Saturday night attack, police said. Additionally, Otis Jones and Gaston also each face a murder charge in connection with a case from 2009. Police would not elaborate.
Otis Jones and Gaston were among the eight people shot but police did not indicate how they were injured.
Three children were also among the injured.
Police Chief Chris Murphy said at a press conference today the shooters went to the park with the intention of seeking out specific victims but would not say if they succeeded.

"We know the motives. We know they went to the park to encounter specific targets. This was an intentional act and not random and we know that this is a part of a continuing dispute. We are doing everything in our power to make sure these perpetrators never have the opportunity to do something like this again," said Murphy.
Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange was also on hand at today's conference to speak about the aftermath of what he called an "explosive situation" brought on by a "handful of thugs."
"Make no mistake about it, incidents like Saturday night will not be tolerated. Our city is strong. We are moving in the right direction and we will not let incidents like this at Oak Park deter us from what we are about," said Strange. "We have a vision statement that says we will sustain a safe and vibrant community that we are all proud to call home, and one night in Oak Park will not tarnish or knock us off of that course."
The shootings occurred just after 6 p.m. in Oak Park, as several hundred people took part in a neighborhood reunion of current and former residents of the Trenholm Court housing community.
The shooting scattered people, and the injured were taken by private car and ambulance from various spots around the park to two area hospitals. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
Chief Murphy also spoke of the outstanding acts of heroism during the violent outbreak at what was intended to be a peaceful gathering in the park Saturday. He said that he got a call this week about one woman in particular who risked her life to protect a child as gunfire rang out at the park.
"We have heard of several instances where adults were jumping in front of children when the shooting occurred, and those acts of heroism deserve to be commended. It is our intention to seek out these everyday citizens that went into harm's way to protect our children and commend them for their acts," he said.
Police are keeping additional details close to vest, citing the ongoing investigation.
