Montgomery shooting victims' injuries not life-threatening

MONTGOMERY, Alabama
None of the eight or more people shot at a public park during a reunion of several hundred people people on Saturday was critically injured, according to authorities.

Victims of the attack at Oak Park - who include at least some children - were treated at two hospitals and authorities were still trying to clarify what happened in the moments before they were called about 6:15 p.m.

The gunshots sent people running so victims were found in a number of locations, and police were unsure how many shooters were involved. The gathering was a reunion for current and former Trenholm Court residents but it was not known whether those firing into the crowd were taking part in the reunion.
Police Chief Kevin Murphy stressed that a small number of people were responsible for the shootings and that most who attended the reunion just wanted to have a good time with their families. Trenholm Court is a public housing development off Columbus Street near downtown Montgomery.
