Somerville man arrested for shooting into van with his girlfriend and her children inside

SOMERVILLE, Alabama
Gary Dibbs Widner
A Somerville man was arrested Sunday and charged with shooting into a vehicle with his girlfriend and her children inside.

Why? Because he was mad he didn't have any synthetic marijuana, Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin said.

Gary Dibbs Widner was charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle. His girlfriend, whose van had a bullet hole in it when she filed the report with deputies, said Widner was drunk and upset that he didn't have any synthetic marijuana and slapped her, Franklin said.

She got her children into the van, which he shot several times with a .22 caliber pistol, Franklin said. Widner then dismantled his girlfriend's phone so she couldn't call the sheriff's department, Franklin said.
