Former north Alabama murder suspect now faces DUI charge

DECATUR, Alabama — Authorities say Daniel Wade Moore, who was acquitted of the murder of a Decatur doctor's wife after three trials, now faces a charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

Decatur police Sgt. John Crouch tells the Decatur Daily that police arrested 37-year-old Moore on Sunday on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving on the wrong side of the road and leaving the scene of an accident. All three charges are misdemeanors.
Moore's attorney, Joe Powell, declined to comment on the latest charges against his client, saying he was not yet familiar with the details of the case.
In 2009, a Morgan County jury acquitted Moore of capital murder in the March 12, 1999, slaying of Karen Croft Tipton.
