Montgomery,Al.
Nearly a full day after eight people were injured in a shooting at Oak Park in Montgomery, the police are still releasing few details.
Montgomery Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Donna Mackey would only say today that witnesses are cooperating with investigators.
Eight people, including children, were shot Saturday evening at a gathering of several hundred people at Oak Park. Current and former residents of Trenholm Court were having a reunion inside the park when the shooting happened at about 6 p.m.
None of the injuries was life-threatening.
Police Chief Kevin Murphy said Saturday that the crime scene would be difficult to process because of the large crowd attending the reunion.
Oak Park, the city’s oldest public park, is open today, with there being no indication that a shooting occurred nearly 24 hours earlier. There were two birthday parties being held Sunday afternoon, and while some of the attendees said they heard vague details about the shooting, it was not alarming enough to deter them from enjoying the park and celebrating the birthdays.
