Lee County sheriff’s deputies and emergency medical personnel responding to a report of a shooting at approximately 9:53 a.m. in the area of Lee Road 4 in the Loachapoka community were flagged down by acquaintances of Ladextric M. Jones who were trying to take the 21-year-old to the hospital, said LCSO chief investigator Capt. Van Jackson. Jones was transferred from the scene to the EAMC.
The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time, Jackson said, who declined to release the identities of any potential suspects being sought.
Jones was indicted on a charge of second-degree theft of property stemming from an alleged copper wire theft at an Auburn business on West Veterans Boulevard in June. He was also indicted on a separate charge of possession of a forged instrument.
Jones’ arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 6 with possible trial dates in the criminal term beginning Oct. 31.
