A Winston County man and his wife, already charged with rape and sodomy of a 12-year old girl in Franklin County, are facing similar charges in Colbert County.
Colbert County Sheriff Ronnie May said Dan Busby Jr., 58, 178 Kidds Road, Lot 19, Haleyville, was charged Friday with first-degree rape, second-degree sodomy and sexual abuse of a child under 10. His wife, Kristy Ann Busby, 34, same address, was charged with first-degree rape, May said.
“She admitted knowing (Busby) was having a sexual relationship with the girl, who was 9 at the time,” May said.
The Bubsys are family acquaintances of the child who is now 12 and living with a family member in Franklin County.
Investigators said the assaults occurred when the couple, as well as the little girl, were living in Colbert County.
A bond of $175,000 has been issued for Busby and his wife has a bond of $125,000.
The couple was arrested earlier in the week by Franklin County authorities.
Busby is charged with second-degree rape, second-degree sodomy and electronic solicitation of a minor. He was accused of texting the girl, trying to get her to have sex with him.
Kristy Busby was charged with second-degree rape and second-degree sodomy as a coconspirator because she knew it had been going on and she allowed it to happen.
Officials said Kristy Busby said she didn’t come forward because she didn’t want to get her husband in trouble.
